Who, Me?

I ask God for help with everything, literally. It's how I built my spiritual practice; start with the small stuff -> trust the big stuff.

I figured it was the only way I could know if it was real.

"God, would you please help me open this pickle jar?"

"God, how do I change a car tire?"

"God, I can't remember the name of that book I read 20 years ago...what was it again??"

Please and thank you, please and thank you.

I ask for help to take just about every photo you'll see.

It's how I envision our co-creation; please help me take the picture, help me make the painting. Wow, you helped me make this so beautiful!! Thank youuuu so much!

Anyway, most people know I'm kind of a puss around stinging insects. I love bugs, I think they're so neat, just ya know... miss me with the stinger.

I'm trying to get over my fear though, and I was like how cool would it be to have a great picture of a bee? It was spring and they were out and about everywhere in the dandelions. So I asked, "God, would you please help me take a great shot of a bee?" And I went for a walk.

I was headed back and I got a tickly feeling like it was time. I saw some bees working on a few dandelions by the road, so I went over to them and knelt down in the grass. My macro lens requires me to get within about an inch of my subject, so I definitely had to get friendly with the bees. I held my breath and went for it.

I got two shots: one of this bee facing away from me, digging into the pollen, and this shot here above - the little bee looking directly into my lens as if to say, "Who, Me?" and a second later was gone. I was astonished and literally jumping for joy. One shot wonder, hot damn, thank you! Look at her little face!!

With The Ursula Paddington Project, I also feel very much like the little bee...asking God, "Who, Me?" I feel called to share these moments but can't help but feel like maybe someone else should volunteer? Really... Me?

Either way, I'm holding my breath and going for it. I hope my stories help you build a bridge to The Divine, the way my own bridge has been so helpful for me and has ended up making my life more beautiful than I could ever imagine.
